IMD News / Snowbird timing clinic Nov. 18
« Last post by gerdt on October 12, 2017, 04:09:51 AM »
Dear Volunteers, Officials and Friends,
We are pleased to continue our Practical Timing and Alpine Update clinic this year at Snowbird.  You are receiving this email because you have participated with us in the past and we wanted to offer you priority to sign up as space is limited.

We had a great group last year and we want to build on that with your new experiences and idea’s.  We will be delivering important new information (New Rule changes) but look forward to hearing from you about how your year went!

Let us know if you have specific needs you want addressed.  If you want to test for Level 1 or 3 T&C let me know right away.

Lastly, there is no cost to the clinic!  Thanks to IMD, the clinic is subsidized.  We will provide coffee and a snack in the morning. If you need a hotel room to stay over, I can look into rates at Snowbird and let you know.

We hope you will join us!

Best Regards,

Tami Strong

IMD News / Rebranded, redesigned IMD website to launch soon
« Last post by gerdt on October 01, 2017, 09:18:20 PM »
IMD will launch a redesigned as well as rebranded website soon.

Here is a preview of the home page.

We've gotten rid of the Forums. Nobody, except spammers, used them.

We have added the new U.S. Ski and Snowboard logo and are trying to eliminate USSA from our vocabulary.

We are also trying to make a better distinction between the Alpine Competition Committee and the Intermountain Division Board of Directors. IMD Alpine hosts the BOD web pages, but the BOD is Alpine, Nordic and Freestyle.  You will find links to Nordic and Freestyle websites on our Links page.

We are also bringing back the Selection Boards page. We will post Selection Boards there as they are released.

IMD will also begin taking payments for team dues and team fees via the website. This feature will not be available right at launch of the redesigned website but will show up soon.

IMD News / Sun Valley AO clinic Dec. 2 to include Chief of Race
« Last post by gerdt on September 29, 2017, 09:36:36 PM »
Sun Valley will hold and Alpine officials clinic Dec. 2 at the SVSEF training center in Warm Springs.

Schedule
9 a.m. Chief of Race and testing
10 a.m. Referee and Jury Advisor course and testing

An update is not planned for this clinic since Sun Valley will hold an update on Nov. 21 during the Thanksgiving camp.

If you are new to officiating and plan on attending the clinic for the Referee or Jury Advisor training and testing, you must have attended a Competition Official training session or have completed the Online Competition Official course. You can download the Online CO course from this website, complete the test and return it to gerdt@ussa-imd.org to fulfill this requirement. The course can be downloaded from Alpine 101. CO will not be taught at the Sun Valley AO clinic. The Online CO course is the only option for new Alpine Officials.

Don't wait until the week before the clinic to complete the OL CO Course. Do it now. If you wait there won't be enough time to get your test graded and Sun Valley notified that you are legal.

Let Sun Valley know you are going to attend by emailing: Scott McGrew, scott@svsef.org.

Show up at the training session with your copy of the Alpine Competition Regulations (found in the Comp Guide), pencil or pen and paper. The ACR can be downloaded from the U.S. Ski and Snowboard website, www.ussa.org.

IMD News / Updated: AO training material is available now
« Last post by gerdt on September 27, 2017, 01:05:11 AM »
Note: The Online CO Course, attached below, was updated on 10/4/2017.

Alpine Official training materials for the 2017-18 season are available now.

The 2017 Update and Review and the Online Competition Official course can be downloaded from Alpine 101 on this website.

They are also attached below.

The update and review covers important changes and problem areas from one year to the next in Alpine ski racing.

The Competition Official course is required of all new Alpine officials and the online version can be downloaded and completed before attending your first AO clinic. This allows the clinic organizers to omit CO from their sessions.

IMD News / Divisions asked to delay AO training until Oct. 14
« Last post by gerdt on August 06, 2017, 12:41:38 AM »
The Alpine Officials Education Working Group has asked that divisions not schedule alpine official training sessions until after (or on) the October 14 weekend. With the rebranding to U.S. Ski & Snowboard they are working hard to get everything transferred over for the upcoming season.

When you do finalize a date for your AO training sessions, please e-mail the details to Stephen Schowengerdt, gerdt@ussa-imd.org, so he can post an announcement on the website and get training material to you.
